The wood is reclaimed chicken barn rafters and has all of the characteristics that you would expect from reclaimed barn wood! Our natural variation accent shelves are not stained and the color can vary from piece to piece. With thick and sturdy handmade raw metal brackets, these versatile shelves make a great addition to any room. Please note that the brackets must be mounted into wall studs. All mounting hardware is included.

You may see holes from a mortise and tenon joint or other time-honored wood joining techniques. You may notice where a hinge or hook is used to hang. These shelves are beautiful wood and are pretty deep. I love the color as well. I wanted something to put plants on and they are solid holding a lot of weight. I had a bit of trouble putting them up because the studs in my wall weren't spaced right they were to far apart to hit two studs. I ended up using one stud and 4 drywall anchors. The wood was not the same shade as pictured. It also comes very “rustic” i.e. rough. You may get a few splinters when handling, so be careful. Also due to the rustic nature the boards are not exactly straight. This can make them appear a bit uneven on the wall. None of these were deal breakers for me. It is a good size in thickness. The wood has all of the characteristics that you would expect from reclaimed barn wood! Thick and sturdy with handmade raw metal brackets, these shelves make a stunning display on your wall! Please note that the brackets MUST be mounted into wall studs. All mounting hardware is included. Shelves come with set screws that go up throughout the bracket into the bottom of the shelf to eliminate any movement due to any imperfections in the reclaimed wood.
