This cute set is handmade in Lancaster county, PA by our local Amish artisan partners. The wood is reclaimed chicken barn rafters and has all of the characteristics that you would expect from reclaimed barn wood! Our natural variation accent shelves are not stained and the color can vary from piece to piece. With thick and sturdy handmade raw metal brackets, these versatile shelves make a great addition to any room. Please note that the brackets must be mounted into wall studs. All mounting hardware is included.

When this wood is reclaimed and made into this gorgeous set of shelves, all of its authentic beauty remains. We do not add to or take away from any of the natural distressing that has occurred from decades of use. You will see nail holes, screw holes, nails, discoloration, scratches, dents, and many other variations. Each of these markings is a glimpse into the history of your shelves. You may see holes from a mortise and tenon joint or other time-honored wood joining techniques. You may notice where a hinge or hook is used to hang. No two pieces of wood are the same - that is what makes these shelves so special! They are one of a kind. They have a long story already, and when you bring them into your home, that story continues with you.

These shelves are beautiful wood and are pretty deep. I love the color as well. I wanted something to put plants on and they are solid holding a lot of weight. I had a bit of trouble putting them up because the studs in my wall weren't spaced right they were to far apart to hit two studs. I ended up using one stud and 4 drywall anchors. With our Natural variation not being stained, the cut ends may be slightly lighter than the rest of the shelf, as cutting exposes the fresh, untouched wood. This adds a lovely contrast to the aging of the rest of the wood and accentuates the character making for a stunning display on your wall! They were easy to mount and they gave you plenty of screws and anchors. They are pretty sturdy but the holes that the pegs slide into could be a bit smaller Which would reduce the slight wobble. The wood was not the same shade as pictured. It also comes very “rustic” i.e. rough. You may get a few splinters when handling, so be careful. Also due to the rustic nature the boards are not exactly straight. This can make them appear a bit uneven on the wall. None of these were deal breakers for me. It is a good size in thickness. Really great set of shelves - I love the aesthetic with the metal pipes and the wood used is extremely solid and feels very high quality. My one gripe with this is that the pipes that screw into the wall mounts dont align, so each of the pipes have a noticeable slant that requires extra effort to make sure the shelf sits flat on them..
