Love the top of this fireplace!! It’s hollow but looks beautiful. We love the look of this fireplace even the original color looked nice. The other reviews are true the panels chip very easy at the corners but it wasn’t a problem for us bc we wanted a black fireplace. It’s kind of silly we bought this to paint it BUT we loved the look just not the color we wanted plus it was on sale and other black fireplaces were over 1500 dollars so we saved 800 with a little labor.. This fireplace is smaller than I imagined but it totally is great for a small space. I placed it in the bedroom on the first floor and it keeps the entire downstairs so warm. I’m very happy with this purchase and ecstatic about the ability to keep the most cold invasive area. The price is great and the assembly was super easy: I do suggest getting an electric drill also.
