This Murphy Bed comes in several heavy boxes with a lot of pieces. So it's definitely my recommendation to hire a professional to put it together to save you time and to ensure the product is assembled properly with anchoring to the wall for security. I must say it came together beautifully and will fit our needs for additional modern style storage and sleep space when we have overnight guests. The material is somewhat sturdy manufactured wood which is only noticeable up close. The frame will definitely only fit a 10 inch mattress or less. We tried a 12 in and the main door will not close. As many have mentioned, it would have been great to have shelves inside the cabinet but if you're handy you can easily install some for more storage. I have been shopping around for a quality Murphy bed for quite some time and almost bought a $4000 model but I'm glad I was able to save once I found this one for a fraction of the cost. I was looking forward to receiving my Murphy bed, cabinet, desk combo. The item came in 5 large heavy boxes. When the Fed Ex driver arrived the one box was completely smashed and open so the parts proceeded to fall out in my driveway. Things got scratched, dinged up and one piece got broke in half. I called customer service about the issue. They were quick about offering to send me a new combo unit. The only thing is the hassle to return the other one. Now mind you they are providing labels and arranged for the pick up. So the box that was smashed is not able to be used to return any parts. So now I have to unpack the box when it arrives and repack it with the damaged parts. Kind of took my excitement away about receiving the item. Disappointed in the packaging of my combo unit. This Murphy bed is an ideal choice for small apartments. When folded, it can immediately free up a lot of space for daily activities. The outer panel of the bed is cleverly designed, which can be used as a temporary workbench or for placing items. The side of the bed is equipped with sufficient storage shelves, providing a lot of storage space. Whether it is books, decorations, daily clothes or exquisite jewelry, they can be stored neatly and orderly.

This piece takes quite a while to put together and requires at least 2 adults to do it well. The assembly hardware doesn't fit tighly and easily shows because it is a contrasting color. I do not foresee the bookshelves staying in place with heavy use because the stabilizing pegs are too small for the holes. The swinging feet readily loosen every time you put it up or down. This unit perfectly utilized a tiny 8x10 “bedroom” in my 126-year-old house. I use it as a multi-purpose guest room (for one) and craftoffice area. It’s super resourceful and space-saving which I love and wouldn’t have otherwise conceived would be possible given how tiny the room is. That being said It’s a great deal for what you get, but what you get is a fully occupied weekend for AT LEAST two people, and that’s if you’re familiar with assembling furniture, which I am. This was hands-down the most tedious and time-consuming piece I’ve ever assembled—however, I expected that to be the case and prepared myself for it. I would advise separating all the parts by step (hardware especially) beforehand to prevent stupid mistakes like using screws on step 37 that were meant to be used on step 13. Every detail matters. I am single but I can see how this project could potentially end in divorce. All in all, it’s a great piece for the money—just prepare yourself for not just hours, but DAYS of labor. Highly recommend for the patient DIY folks. The instructions aren’t great but they rarely are. Fortunately there are QR codes on each step which link to videos showing the guys in the factory assembling it. The hide away bed is easy to use, simply pull on the handles and flip the support leg down onto the floor. Safety & Installation Notice: Read the manual before assembly. Each step includes a video and important notes. Professional assemble suggested. Mattress must weigh at least 80 lbs. Suggest Mattress Thickness : 8 inch-10inch.Mattress not included. Installation requires secure to wood studs or masonry. Anti-tip hardware for brick/concrete walls is included. Have one person hold or sit on the empty bed frame when installing the hydraulic system to prevent pinch injuries. Please do not remove the iron straps compressing the hydraulic rods until you attach them to the body. Removing it early will cause the rod too long to fit into the predrilled hole.
