Beautiful, comfortable to use and very sharp. I bought this to replace my old Wusthof classic santoku that the handle deteriorated after 30 years of being put in the dishwasher. (I’ll be handwashing these.) The price for the set at Wayfair was lower than anywhere else I looked. I had some confusion about the length of the larger knife’s blade. The Wayfair description says 6” and I was worried that it would be shorter than the one I was trying to replace. This is a beautifully crafted knife. The blade is beautiful and made with the devotion that Japanese craftsmen are famous for. The wooden handle is a lovely dark brown and fits nicely in my hand. This is more than a kitchen knife, it is a piece of art and deserves special care. No dishwasher, dry immediately after use and store such that it won't nick you or be nicked by other cutlery.. My wife liked a smaller santoku from our crummy knife block because it fit well in her hand and was more comfortable to use than my chefs knives but it was duller than Trump supporters. I decided to purchase this when it was on sale for a gift since Shun has a good reputation with their knives. It came plenty sharp and looks really nice on our magnetic knife strip with some other Japanese steel from my collection. My only gripe is that it doesn't hold its edge as long as I'd hoped it would.
