Beautiful chairs that were very easy to assemble. The only challenge we had was with the pre-drilled holes for the cup holder bracket. They were a little too close to the edge and cracked the wood when the screws were inserted. Easy fix: just drilled my own holes more towards the center of the base. These are nice chairs, look good and are sturdy. If you plan to keep them in the shade or in a covered porch or patio then you should be fine. It can take a little water and sun exposure from time to time, but as long as its not exposed to the elements 24/7, it should be fine. We planned to keep this out in the yard and made the mistake of choosing these wooden chairs instead of HDPE. We live in Florida, and get extreme sun and also very heavy and frequent rain. Overall this seems like a good chair for the price. The footrest stores under the seat when not in use, and the chair back can be reclined to 3 different positions. The chair itself does NOT fold for storage. The "gray" chair is not really gray. It is a medium brown with a slightly gray-green cast to the stain. It is quite a bit darker in life than it appears on my screen. Assembly was smooth. It took me about 30-45 minutes, working alone. There is only one step where a second person would have been helpful (attaching the seat back to the seat base); I was able to compensate by propping the back up using one of the not-yet-attached armrests. I bought two chairs. One of them was an open box item. There were some slight differences in in pieces affecting assembly. One chair had pilot holes for the screws and another did not. One came with the legs for the footrest part already attached; the other required that I attach it. The footrest legs of one fold up tightly; the other folds up loosely. IMO, great chairs! The package and all parts arrived undamaged, parts are well organized in the box with clear labeling, instruction manual is well written with clear/simple drawings, the chair color (light walnut) looks good as advertised, and the chair assembly is painless. First, the included wrench is marginal. IMO, start your chair assembly with a standard wrench - it'll make for a more pleasant experience. Second, I would pre-drill all the screw hole ends to eliminate wood cracking, specifically the seat back (see photo). Use a 3/32" drill bit or smaller on hole ends to prevent wood cracking. Chair is cedar and looks like the one pictured (good). Not sure what “handcrafted” means but it’s a stretch. Chair was made with a power router (by backsliding Amish?) and only the seating surface is sanded. Very rough surfaces. Came with zinc bolts not appropriate for outdoors. Came mostly assembled and solid. Pre-assembled parts do have coated screws. Reasonably happy but seller should remove Amish and handcrafted from title and send galvanized bolts.. Daniel.
