Beautiful terracotta base. A substantial lamp that is full of earthy character. The shade didn't work for me though. Felt too big, and because I have the lamp sitting on a side table in our sunken living room, you could see too much of the inside and the bulb. I realized I needed an empire shade instead of a drum, so I had to spend the extra money to purchase a different shade. But I'm happy with the purchase overall. Note that you can see a "seam" (one on each side) where the potter put the two pieces together I assume. I like it and think it adds to the character, but others may not.. Andrea. These are great high quality lamps. Love the color tone and pottery appearance. One of the lamps had dried on dripping glaze, but I am keeping because I can place on a side that won’t be noticeable. One other thing to be aware of, the lamps had white dried bumps from the glaze, which I first thought was from the foam packaging. One lamp had more than the other, so I took some sand paper to the raised white spots (looked like splattered drywall texture) which softened their appearance and made them smoother.
