Assembly of this bench requires absolutely no tools as it completely snaps together. We did use a soft mallet to tap the pieces in place. It takes two people to hold pieces in place while you’re snapping them. Don’t try to assemble this by yourself. I’m not sure how waterproof it is because I am keeping it under a covered patio. The directions were awful. The parts are labeled, but the lettering was black on black so it took us over 10 minutes just to locate the black lettering on black. This deck box is huge! I was having a hard time finding one that would fit my 28”x28” (4) patio seat cushions and then 4 smaller cushions for the back of my chairs. This was perfect with plenty of room left over. The instructions lacked clear directions and were mostly rough drawings with blurred lines. You will need two people and a couple of hours. Can't beat this deck box for the price. Excellent value. Assembly is straightforward and all parts are labeled. The 90 gal. size (in some places it says 82 gal.) was just enough to fit 6 dining cushions and pillows. It is sturdy enough for being this light but I wouldn't say this is a heavy duty and sturdy box that will take abuse such as sitting on it or kids jumping on it.
