Finally received this polywood bench! It is being used for a memorial bench for a person that meant a lot to many people. Polywood is the absolute best material for outside use. Stainless steel hardware so no worries about rust. The weight capacity is enough for two people without worrying. The assembly was rather easy and great directions. The green color is also perfect for the park setting, blends well with all the greenery behind it. Although Polywood may cost more than others, you’ll have many many years of enjoyment! This patio bench is made of High-density polyethylene (HDPE),which resists cracking, breaking, and peeling. It has the beautiful touch of wood, but unlike wood or PS materials cracking in dry conditions or rotting in frequent moisture, this chair stays sturdy no matter the weather (hot, rain, or snow). I received this bench on June 3, 2023. My husband and I worked together to construct it. I was very disappointed to find in the instructions that it is to be constructed with small dowel pegs. No screws are included. The instructions tell u that if a dowel breaks off while u are using a rubber mallet to hammer it in then u need to use a 1/8 drill bit to drill that one out and insert another one. I would have rather the manufacturer design this bench with screws as part of the construction which would have provided more strength and stability. However, we decided to give it a try and we began to construct it. Several dowels broke and I had to do as the instructions noted. It seems to be fairly tight together at this point but I will be monitoring it as time goes by. I applied a coat of Teak Oil to it and it brings out the beautiful grains and color.
