Okay, look...this thing is a nice looking item, and actually well made, but the instructions are LITERALLY WRONG AT THE LAST STEP. I'm not an idiot and I put together many things but I had to disassemble parts of it that were pre-put together to make it work. Somebody less handy would have trouble. Still, nice item. This was pretty easy to assemble, I completed the the assembly in just about 20 minutes. The instructions were straightforward and simple to understand. All tools needed came with the lectern, however I do recommend using your own Philips screwdriver to put it together a bit quicker. The top part of the lectern had a nice smooth black wood finish look to it. The top part of the lectern that can hold paper is sturdy, definitely strong enough to hold a laptop if needed. The bottom tray is not as sturdy as the top shelf but is still strong enough to hold a cell phone or a few pens. I have never in all these years received a package as if it was sent to us directly from the streets of China, no offense. Everything was broken inside the half torn up box with holes everywhere. The pieces that were there were chipped and broken. And, dusty like it was in the trash off the streets. I have never seen this ever since I have ordered from Wayfair. I was extremely happy with this book display. I was looking for something reasonably attractive to hold cookbooks on my kitchen counter, and this fit the bill perfectly. I added photos and deleted faces and content on the screens- so parts of the photos will look weird. Photo 1- the man is about 6'2, Photo 2- the man is about 5'10, and Photo 3- The man is about 6'4- I don't think we adjusted the height of the podium for each speaker, but you can see what it looks like..
