The bed looks exactly as pictured online. Assembly is tedious intakes quite some time. One thing to note is the shelf on either side is not actually Wood. It is some type of hard material but it is covered with a padded vinyl wood grain look. However, I expected the steps around the side would add a few inches to where the mattress would sit on but the slats are literally on the ground. 5 stars for the bed but unfortunately, the experience took much longer than it should have. Our first delivery arrived incomplete, with only two pieces of wood—more than half of the bed was missing. We had to return it, and a full replacement shipment was sent, which delayed everything, including our assembly (which, of course, we still had to pay for). The new shipment did arrive with all the parts, but we also noticed some chipping and damage on the side. At that point, we decided to keep it because we were tired of going back and forth. I love the look - that said, you get what you pay for. It is not solid wood, but it has a solid presence. This is the brown tone. The faux wood is more of an ash brown than warm brown. The biggest disappointment is that the headboard is unfinished in the back. It is not an issue unless you have a plan of having the bed in the middle of the room with the back of the bee exposed. The other reviews noted it was a challenge to assemble so we opted for Wayfair to arrange assembly. (That move was worrh every penny!!!) The bed arrived in two massive rectangular boxes weighing 85 and 75 pounds. The assembly person moved the awkward to handle boxes up two flights of stairs and that itself was valuable! The build took about 2 hours. Best aspect of the bed besides the look (which is what I wanted) is that it is great for our dog that had a hard time jumping on our taller bed. An excellent service. Luther, Benjamin, and Bat did an incredible job. They were always careful, detail-oriented, very kind, and willing to help with everything. The bed is spectacular—it exceeded all my expectations. It’s a king size, very sturdy, and will last for many years. The finish is perfect.
