This is likely not what many people are using this skate for, but were doing it to help socialize our wonderful new dog with my two cats, one of them is not very dog savvy. When we tried to do this with a normal baby gate, she kept trying to launch herself over it so of course, he wanted to chase her. This was the most affordable option that I could find for something floor to ceiling that would allow them to become more familiar without the potential danger that an unexpected interaction could have caused. So, we had a bit of trouble in the beginning but Wayfair made it right. The first gate was dented pretty badly, we returned it received the second one which was missing the screws needed to put the footers on. I like this and I am small enough fit through the gate, but my elderly father has trouble with it and his caregiver has trouble fitting through it and opening and closing it. My dog is 15 pounds and can’t get out of it, so that is the best part. Perhaps my Dad’s caregiver will figure out how to open and close it. I was very excited to receive this cat door but it definitely does NOT fit a 37.4" wide opening. My opening is exactly 37" and the gate width is over 2" short of that, even if you rotate the pressure knobs out all the way. It was not hard to set up but the pictures in the instructions were very small and hard to discern the details. Since it did not fit and I did not want to send it back, I went out and bought some 4" long carriage bolts and rubber floor caps to jerry rig this into a gate that would stay put in my 37" opening. The photos I am showing here show the gate and the gaps with the original rubber grips fully extended. I will try to add later some pictures of the bolts and floor caps I had to add. There is no way this fits 37" and honestly you would be lucky to get it to fit a 35" opening. It might do it but it would be a little shaky because you have to extend the bolts out all the way. Then there is little left for the gate to hang onto. I really did want to give this a better rating but I am disappointed that the measurements and description were not correct, and that I had to go out and buy special hardware to make it fit. This is great. I was looking for a permanent solution to keep the dog from the front door and a way to separate the dogs from my niece when she visits. This is perfect fix. It opens and closes easily with adult human hands, meaning the dogs or my niece can’t open it. It also has a lock, which will be great when my niece is a little older. This gate arrived quickly and appears very sturdy and well made.
