One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! It’s really nice! Got a professional to put it together and it took a long time and some extra tools from the hardware store to get it the way we wanted it. It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. Love this product! Didn’t give it a 5 because a piece was missing. We did eventually get it but was a bit of a headache. Also I feel because we self built it I notice the little things about it more then if we would have paid someone to build it. I purchased a 10 foot and an 8‘ x 10 pergola. We put them side-by-side and we have created a beautiful area which will be a setting area and a hot tub area. The directions were a little complicated, but we got everything done without a problem. We built the big one on Saturday and the one on Sunday. The second was a breeze after building the first one. Turned out nice. Had this professionally installed and mounted the post in concrete blocks to give more stability. The metal pieces itself is lightweight aluminum but when connected together it’s sturdy. Only gripe are the shade connector poles. Their means of connecting could be improved because they slide off & disconnect from one another every now & then but so far holds up well with rain when shade is pulled back. This is a great pergola! I love that it provides an area of shade on my back porch without blocking the sunlight coming into my house completely. The roof itself is light filtering, which is great because it’s not completely blacked out. I love the curtains and mash liner so that I can enclose it if I need to or keep it open. The installation itself was not accurate according to the instruction pamphlet. It only needed two people, but took between six and eight hours to assemble.
