Inspired by pure thickness. Maybe we've lost our minds here at coma inducer or maybe we've always had a couple of screws loose??? But we've become obsessed with thick. Seriously though, who likes a weak comforter? Does anyone enjoy getting a comforter vacuum smushed in a box that looks like a flat sheet and comes with instructions to shake it out and wait 4 days? And, after those 4 days are up, it's still so thin you wonder if you were sent a flat sheet. The thought of such a comforter makes us sick! Sure, it's harder to create, produce, and ship such impossibly huge comforters that are "thicker than thick"... But isn't that the whole point? With the number of hours, we sleep (or should sleep) each night, it should be a crime to have a flat sheet-like comforter. To give you some perspective, the typical coma inducer has a 280 gsm fill rate, and most, if not all, other coma inducers are under 400 gsm. So when we add an extra 1000 gsm in fill weight, you know this is a thick boi. What makes this coma inducer even more impressive is that we didn't use just any filling. We used grade polyester with a blow-in technique to create a down alternative feel. Each square is like an overfilled, squishy plush stuffed animal. We then coupled this thick, high-quality filling with an outer ultra-cozy plush that has a hand feel like petting the fluffiest cloud or a cuddly dog that had one too many meals. And that takes us full circle to the real naming inspiration, which originated three years ago from a dog video that became an internet meme. Bought the California king size down comforter to put in a king duvet cover on a queen size bed. It is as fluffy and luxurious as I had hoped although less fluffy than the photos online appear. The comforter is so much warmer than my old one. I used to need an extra fleece blanket and would still be cold. With this new comforter, I was able to remove the fleece blanket and set my thermostat 5 degrees lower in New England winter and still be cozy and warm. I love it.
