To limit color change, keep the product covered when not in use. A cover is not included and must be purchased separately. It even comes with a log grate to promote optimal airflow for a better burning fire. With the open fire design, easily tend to the fire with a poker or a log clamp (not included) to keep the fire burning all night long.

Love the look of this Chinimea. I do think it has some design flaws though. The grate inside does not hold the coal so it all drops down to the bottom which makes it hard to keep a fire going inside. Also, the front opening is so large, that air blows right up and through - again, making it hard to keep a nice cozy fire blazing inside.
