I absolutely love this solid real wood island! You can't beat the price. Well it is real wood, it is a lighter wood. I did have a few small pieces with some splintering defects because of this, but nothing a little wood glue can't fix. Other than that, I didn't have any issues with assembly like what other reviewers noted. I found assembly to be rather easy. The pieces were all numbered, but a lot of the numbers had fallen off in the box or elsewhere. This wasn't a big deal as the instructions have good pictures and I was able to figure out which pieces correlated with which numbers. The design is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for—very sturdy, industrial farmhouse style with clean lines that instantly elevates the space. The black iron piping feels heavy-duty and well-made, not flimsy at all, and once mounted properly, it feels very secure and strong. Assembly was straightforward and well worth the effort. All the metal components fit together nicely, and the mounting points lined up perfectly. I appreciate that this system allows flexibility in choosing your own wood shelves, which lets you customize the look to match your home. I used solid wood boards, and the final result looks high-end and custom-built. One very important thing to note (and not a negative—just something buyers should be aware of) the wooden shelves are NOT included. You will need to purchase or cut your own boards separately. This actually ended up being a positive for me because I was able to select the exact wood tone, thickness, and finish I wanted. I almost deducted a star for the instructions that could have been more clear, or the labeling of parts. I had to take it apart 3x during construction and turn the frames around to align them properly, because they weren't all labeled "front" and "back" and the pictures in the back weren't clear, so some of it was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. I didn't figure out which was which until I'd put it together, so I had to deconstruct it and turn things around. But then the finished product came out to be so beautiful and elegant.
