Although it was packaged well, it somehow came with a small dent in the side (see picture). While this does not affect the cabinet’s purpose in any way, it was a gift for my husband and it just found this disappointing. Other than that, it is very nice overall. Not oversized and comes completely assembled. The inside is done very nicely with an eye towards maximizing the space for rifles, pistols, magazines and ammo. Both keys and code unlock it with ease. Good basic safe for keeping firearms secure from children I’m satisfied with this safe for what it is. Assembly took approximately two hours, so be prepared to spend some time putting it together. Once assembled, it feels reasonably sturdy and does what I purchased it to do. The electronic lock is a nice convenience and makes accessing the safe much easier than dealing with a traditional key lock. The primary purpose for me is keeping firearms safely secured and out of the hands of curious children, and I believe it accomplishes that well. That said, buyers should have realistic expectations about the level of security this safe provides. It is not a high-security safe designed to withstand a determined thief, and it offers no fire protection whatsoever. I would consider it a good option for basic firearm storage and keeping unauthorized family members from accessing firearms, but I would look at a much heavier and more robust safe if theft or fire protection is a major concern. This safe is better than what I expected. I got this safe to keep some family inherited firearms organized and safely stored. The construction is of good quality. Assembly and instructions were thorough. Took about 2 hours. The locking mechanism is very good with keys, code or biometric options. I was genuinely impressed with the packaging. Each piece was individually wrapped and had a metal frame inside the box to prevent damage. Unfortunately it quickly went down hill from there. I received zero instructions so an estimated 20 minute assembly turned into 2 hours. Each of the pieces are held in with just self-tappets while majority of the holes do not line up. Make sure you have a drill/bits because I cant imagine using the provided screw driver to drive the screws into place. I wouldn't trust this to keep my firearms safe at all. The Top Draw XD is an upgraded version of our original Top Draw 2912-S BLK. The upgrade includes a heavy duty internal steel lock cover bolted to the lid with ¼” bolts secured to 3/8” steel welded blocks. This upgrade makes it extremely difficult to punch out the lock from the outside. The interior is lined with thick foam on the top and bottom to secure your firearm while traveling. The top opening case features an easily programmable five push button Simplex mechanical lock that does not require batteries. The Top Draw can accommodate up to two pistols depending on their sizes. It is nicely textured in a semi-gloss black powder coating and accented with a silver V-Line logo and stainless steel faceplate. The Top Draw has predrilled holes in the bottom and can be secured on top of most surfaces with bolts or by using our optional Quick Release mounting bracket (part no. 2912/3912-MB BLK).

I like it because it's one of the few gun cases that don't have electronic locks or require keys. It also appears to be well-made. I did not give it 5 stars because I wish there were a way to provide good stability without requiring the user to drill holes on the wall. Anonymous. US. Tue Oct 06 2020
