The top is the only of its kind that acts as a planter space and also self-drains when excess water is present. There is also a channel built into the rim which diverts overflowing water to the front and away from the barrel and home foundation. You can have peace of mind that you're conserving water and giving your garden the best water it can get, devoid of harsh chemicals and rich in nutrients. The urn comes with two brass spigots and locations: a low, central spot to maximize water pressure and usage and an upper-side location for filling buckets and linking. These spigots use a standard thread that will connect with all standard hoses. Like all made rain barrels, the polyethylene used is BPA-Free and - for contact with edibles.

This is my favorite rain barrel. I know you can buy cheaper ones, but this one is made in the USA, stacks/nests into other rain barrels for winter storage (if you live in a cold climate like me), and it's nice to look at. This allows bucket filling but leaves a lot of the water behind that often becomes stagnant and hazardous. I bought this barrel and the diverter kit separately. Works best when you convert the top to a planter . This barrel is sturdy and was compatible with the eco station diverter kit. I bought 2 , and curiously enough one barrel came with 2 brass spigots and the other came with just one plastic spigot … plastic spigot does not look sturdy.. also the spigot cut out is low so you may want to elevate barrel for sufficient pressure, although you could cut your own hole and insert a spigot.
