The bed went together fairly easily, even with one person! For a few of the steps, I had it leaning on the wall with a blanket for extra protection, but the pieces went together smoothly with little extra effort. The most time consuming part was simply attaching the bed slats, which was quick with a drill. Ok, giving this 4.5 stars for aesthetic and solid wood frame. HOWEVER, please be cautioned There were some dings and splintering that are fortunately hidden after assembly with one acception. The assembly itself self took 2.5 hrs with a couple sanity breaks. Each spindled piece has an item sticker that would be visible and thus needed removal. I ruined my nails and spent 10x as long removing stickers and the glue as I did putting the head and footboard together. After FINALLY getting this bed put together, I almost cried contemplating the labor intensive deconstruction that would be required to take it out of the room. This project is not for the faint of heart. It is, indeed, a project. I would not deduct stars as paying for assembly is an option. Also, an oversight on my part, but the bedframe will not house a mattress and box spring, only a mattress. My biggest frustration was the assembly, and second the blemishes on the frame. The bed is very low but that’s something I was looking for. For the guest room I did add some bed elevation blocks only because I have items stored underneath. Pleased with my purchase. The queen size bed frame and headboard came in excellent condition. The construction appears solid. Assembly took less than 30 minutes. However, if you arent very familiar with furniture assembly instructions, you may struggle a little as none of the pieces were labeled with the numbers used in the instructions. It took me four hours by myself to put together but the instructions were ok and all the hardware was there. Construction of the wood parts was good. It's very solid and I love having the trundle option under the bed. Just remember that you need a thinner mattress for the trundle pull out than for the top bed.
