Newport News Va

Throughout most of the nineteenth century, Newport News was a small fishing village that experienced rapid growth in the 1880s following the construction of the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company. This new industry attracted many residents in the years following the conclusion of the Civil War. The factory was founded by wealthy California railroad magnate Collis P. Huntington who had been recruited to complete the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in the 1870s. The city’s downtown area was incorporated as an independent city in 1896 and remains a historic part of the region with iconic architecture and a traditional aesthetic. This stunning birds-eye perspective shows the city in a period of significant transformation economically, politically, and culturally. Located at the southern end of the Virginia Peninsula, the city served as an essential hub for transporting imports to inland States and exporting valuable crops and coal to major markets in the Northeast and abroad. Birds eye perspectives were a widely popular style of map that served as marketing materials to attract residents and merchants alike and featured prominent civic features and economic opportunities. Newport News was one of the original eight shires of the Virginia colony as decreed by king Edward in 1634. This map was published during one of the most significant periods of expansion for the city, and this illustration immediately transports the viewer back in time, creating an indelible bond between the past and present. This is an authentic piece of American cartographical history with a distinguished aesthetic. Our museum quality giclee print comes printed with archival ink on premium heavyweight matte paper. This eye-catching vintage map reproduction print makes the perfect gift for anyone that loves history and imagery.

The Southbank Collection takes its name from the vibrant neighborhood of London where mid-century architecture predominates. Past and present merge harmoniously here, just as they do in the Southbank Collection. Flourishes of mid-century curves and contours enhance elegant, classic design. The straight lines of the handles and rounded detailing echo elements characteristic of mid-century furniture. Yet, the Southbank Collection stands apart from its inspiration to create its own rich aesthetic and flow—arresting, rhythmic, and refined.

The period was a time of gentility and decorum when design looked to classic Greek and Roman architecture for inspiration. The kitchen collection carries on this tradition of perfected proportion. A tall column that flows into the high arc of the neck is balanced by a subtle fluted tip and ring details around the base and spout. This Neoclassical style has resonance today as its symmetry, simplicity, and aristocratic understatement complement all décors.

This is gorgeous and has a great feel.. Fej. New Haven, CT. Fri Jun 14 2024

On the tiny island of San Giulio in Northern Italy, stands the centuries-old Basilica di San Giulio. Its unassuming exterior holds a Baroque church of magnificent proportions, every inch of its domed ceilings covered with detailed frescos. The San Julio® Collection brings together these elements of rustic charm and artistic form. A classical column flows into a delicate arc. Fine circular details ring the handles, base, and spout for a subtle touch of ornamentation. San Julio is inherently traditional, yet its purity of shape and style make it just right for transitional kitchens with character and heart.

The faucet is beautiful Having it installed today. HOWEVER, i needed a sink hole cover to match the italian brass(a small round disc that covers the extra holes in the sink). I called Wayfair/perigold and they could not get me the piece. I wanted it to match the gold color of the faucet. I finally called ROHL, they can't sell it to me but told me wayfair should be able to put it on a purchase order SHC-1IB. Oh NO, NO WAY. They were unable to help me at all, nor could they direct me to any place that might be able to get this piece. By sheer luck I found a retail store STUDIO 41. They had one in STOCK and sent it the next day. How can you sell a $1800 faucet and provide no customer service. Bad wayfair. Yeah! studio 41. Wish I had purchased the faucet from them, but I didn't know they existed.. Patt. La Grange, IL. Wed Mar 29 2023

It wasn’t until the Edwardian age that indoor plumbing became common, putting an emphasis on bathroom design, especially fixtures. Faucet styles took after Neo-Baroque architecture, a cross between simplicity and grandeur, classic silhouettes with pronounced details, and a touch of whimsy. The Edwardian™ Collection makes a similar statement with a combination of columns, curves, and rounded shapes. Refined ring detailing graces the base, handles, neck, and spout. The Collection captures the ebullient spirit of the age in styles perfect for today.

The Armstrong marries a modern aesthetic with subtle references to its origins. Handles designed like industrial levers have crosshatch nuances. Ring detailing and bolt-like shapes mirror industrial hardware. The Armstrong brings a sense of dynamic precision to a design of minimalist beauty to complement any kitchen décor.
