The bed is definitely all hard wood. It’s not the type of hardwood you could sand and refinish in the future. It also arrived without any broken pieces. It’s a pretty bed, but we are giving it a 45 because we wanted something subtle. The bed is kind of big and the headboard is massive. The advertisement has a large mattress and the decorative pillows hide just how big it is. I can’t imagine what kind of room this would fit in. We also wish it was held together with more hardware.. The look of the bed frame itself is great, and the color of the headboard fabric and the frame's wood, appeared true to the photos in the listing. The bed gets a slight hit due to the time and work to put it together. For a one person job it took about 4 hours to put together, and much of that comes from the need to drill all the holes for the slats, as you'll be drilling in to the bed frame itself, and you'll want to predrill those holes (and make sure you don't over drill as it's very possible to break through the bottom and expose the sharp bottom end of the screw. The tolerances around some of the screws and holes that are predrilled are also very tight, and getting the plastic washers on isn't the easiest. So make sure to have a power drill, appropriate drill bits, and a Phillips head bit, or else this bed could take you upwards of 5 to 6 hours to put together.. Richard. Jersey City, NJ. It works with our new 16-inch-high mattress and adjustable base, although the headboard does look a little short with such a tall mattress and base. The bed is really pretty, sturdy, solid wood, but it’s a few things that prevent me from giving 5 stars. No instructions, took some time to find them online. The headfootboardsside rails don’t perfectly line up, which bothers the perfectionist in me. Not enough screws included to screw in both sides of each slat, had to do every other.
