It feels substantial and sturdy, and the shelving underneath gives us tons of extra storage. Assembly took about 2 hours with two people, but the instructions were straightforward and the finished product was definitely worth the time. It is not real wood, so I would be careful with the surface—I wouldn’t place hot pans directly on it or set drinks down without a coaster. That said, it looks and feels like a much more expensive piece of furniture once assembled. We are using ours as a homeschool craft and project table, and it is PERFECT for that! Good basic island for a kitchen needing more counter and drawer space. Just like all the other reviews said, its incredibly short and about 6 inches shorter than our kitchen counters, so we plan to modify the legs to make it taller and maybe add doors to the bottom for extra cabinet space. The open shelving is very short, but nicely fits our dutch ovens and cast iron wok on display. I knew the measurements of the drawers ahead of time, so I knew Id need to configure my ziploc bags and things like tinfoil carefully, but they do in fact fit. Its nice having a junk drawer, tea drawer, and drawer for potholders and oven mitts. (I wouldnt recommend trying to use the drawers for spices as I dont think they would fit, and if they did it wouldnt fit many.) Shipping took a little over a week. The initial packages arrived with the top part damaged on the corner and a missing piece for assembly (I received two of something I only needed one of, and then zero of the piece necessary for completing the assembly), so I reached out to Wayfair customer service and they sent out the replacement pieces which took another week, but besides the inconvenience of delayed assembly it was a smooth process. All in all, Im happy with what I got for the price (380 after sale price and 15 off coupon). I wouldnt pay more than that given that none of it is real wood and assembly took me 2 hours even with an electric drill, but for the cost it looks nice in the space and functions well.. Savannah. Just what I was looking for in a real solid wood kitchen island on a budget! It fits our space & is a basic style for a good price. It is a soft wood (fir) so you do have to be gentle with it & it did come with some shipping/packaging character marks, but our style is rustic/vintage so it works just fine. I actually modified it by cutting off the bottom 2” on each leg & adding rollers so it is easily moveable by just one person. This product arrived on time and packaging was secure so it arrived in perfect condition. The directions were very clear and pictures were helpful too. The color of the unit was a lovely soft green true to photo. The butcher block top is wood veneer it looks good but wasn’t expecting particle board with veneer layer. Assembly was easy and able to be done by one person. Waiting to attach to until in kitchen when other arranging is done. For ease of moving piece while storing as the weight is in the butcher block top. Am very happy with the looks of the piece and the solid feel to the island while drawers and doors work very well..
