This Murphy Bed comes in several heavy boxes with a lot of pieces. So it's definitely my recommendation to hire a professional to put it together to save you time and to ensure the product is assembled properly with anchoring to the wall for security. I must say it came together beautifully and will fit our needs for additional modern style storage and sleep space when we have overnight guests. The material is somewhat sturdy manufactured wood which is only noticeable up close. The frame will definitely only fit a 10 inch mattress or less. We tried a 12 in and the main door will not close. As many have mentioned, it would have been great to have shelves inside the cabinet but if you're handy you can easily install some for more storage. I have been shopping around for a quality Murphy bed for quite some time and almost bought a $4000 model but I'm glad I was able to save once I found this one for a fraction of the cost. This Murphy bed is an ideal choice for small apartments. When folded, it can immediately free up a lot of space for daily activities. The outer panel of the bed is cleverly designed, which can be used as a temporary workbench or for placing items. The side of the bed is equipped with sufficient storage shelves, providing a lot of storage space. Whether it is books, decorations, daily clothes or exquisite jewelry, they can be stored neatly and orderly.

This piece takes quite a while to put together and requires at least 2 adults to do it well. The assembly hardware doesn't fit tighly and easily shows because it is a contrasting color. I do not foresee the bookshelves staying in place with heavy use because the stabilizing pegs are too small for the holes. The swinging feet readily loosen every time you put it up or down. This unit perfectly utilized a tiny 8x10 “bedroom” in my 126-year-old house. I use it as a multi-purpose guest room (for one) and craftoffice area. It’s super resourceful and space-saving which I love and wouldn’t have otherwise conceived would be possible given how tiny the room is. That being said It’s a great deal for what you get, but what you get is a fully occupied weekend for AT LEAST two people, and that’s if you’re familiar with assembling furniture, which I am. This was hands-down the most tedious and time-consuming piece I’ve ever assembled—however, I expected that to be the case and prepared myself for it. I would advise separating all the parts by step (hardware especially) beforehand to prevent stupid mistakes like using screws on step 37 that were meant to be used on step 13. Every detail matters. I am single but I can see how this project could potentially end in divorce. All in all, it’s a great piece for the money—just prepare yourself for not just hours, but DAYS of labor. Highly recommend for the patient DIY folks. The instructions aren’t great but they rarely are. Fortunately there are QR codes on each step which link to videos showing the guys in the factory assembling it. Unfortunately the build quality and design isn’t effective. The rails and tracks that allow the bed to rotate from a desk to a bed are too weak to hold the weight of the structure. Causing the rails to come apart. I reached out to Wayfair who quickly provided replacement parts, but those parts failed as well. Looks like a design flaw. Too bad because it looked like a cool bed. This murphy bed is working well in an extra bedroom. It looks nice and offers storage in the bottom drawer giving us a nice place to store the sheets and pillows for the bed when not in use. I've been assembling various pieces of furniture for almost 30 years now. This is hands down the worst one I've done. First, the set all together weighs about 400 lbs, so even moving the boxes inside is a bit of a chore. This set is also much more complicated than average. Unfortunately the instructions are, at best, less detailed, and at worst, just wrong. I saw several places where pieces were incorrectly labeled in the instructions, or correctly labeled in one page but not in the next. There are no indicators anywhere when it will matter, say, which direction a piece needs to face. The best you can do is to look extremely closely and count the dots in a drawing and compare it with the holes in the piece you have. Even then, it's often not clear when a piece needs to face one way or another. You need to CONSTANTLY be looking 5 or 6 steps in advance and piecing the whole thing together in your mind, or you will have to back out several steps (I had to undo at least 5 separate times). And even after you look ahead half a dozen steps, the errors you will notice throughout the instruction book will have you second-guessing both the instructions AND yourself until it's done. I spent LITERALLY the entire weekend putting this together, and when it was finally done, it became clear that some bad quality control meant that several pieces were cut too long or not curved enough or something similar. So after mounting the shelving, it won't fully rotate either left or right, and the bed is now stuck inside the cabinet until I either remove the entire shelving panel and remove the offending shelves, or cut down the shelves that are sized incorrectly so they don't run into the sides and prevent it from turning. I hated everything about this experience. I would ask for my money back, but that would likely mean I would have to take this entire thing apart again - this would be the 3rd or 4th time I've undone several of those screws.. Rick.
