Bejmat tiles are Moroccan subway tiles that have been used since way before subways were a thing and shaped into 2" x 6" bricks that are almost 3/4" thick, and can be used in various patterns. These are nice tiles, but difficult to work with because there is variation in the width and length of the tiles which makes it so some tiles have barely any grout line while others have extra. Spanish Olive

These are 6"x2" Bejmat tiles (150x50x13mm). Bejmat are a particular style of rectangular Glazed Zellige tiles, with slabs cut before firing. These thinner bejmat help reduce the weight for wall applications. Produced by hand in Fez, Morocco, these Moroccan mosaic floor tiles are known the world over. Still made with the local clays, and fired in kilns powered by olive pits, these rectangular floor tiles are authentic Zellige (zellij).
