The shelves are of good/not great quality. The unit is fairly sturdy, even wothout anchoring it to the wall. The tempered glass pieces are substantial/heavy. The shelves are not real wood, which I knew ahead of time but I would have given the unit 5 stars if they were. The color looked a bit more gray in the pictures I had seen, which I liked. The shelves have a bit more dark brown color than I was expecting. The shelf material and color ar ethe reasons I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Nevertheless, they look nice (see pics). Assembly was not too bad but is easiest with two people and you need to be able to apply downward force/weight to get glass pieces into the shelf slots (a step ladder helped with the top shelf). I searched high and low to find a shelving unit with tall enough, deep enough, and wide enough shelves to accommodate some large Lego constructs. Leaving out two of the shelves of this unit mostly accomplished the job. My only issue is that the design of this is a little odd, having the slats on the front. I believe this was designed to be more of a room divider, where it makes more sense, but this still works okay. I also wish the shelves were adjustable. The size is great, the lights are great! Overall we love it but it was very hard to build, particularly getting the drawers to align. Great unit with excellent quality. The color is a little darker than I expected, almost black, but it works well with the rest of our room. After reading the reviews, we hired professional contractors to assemble it, and they put it together in about 20 minutes. The unit is extremely heavy, so I’m glad we had help. I was a little concerned after seeing several reviews mentioning broken glass shelves, so I’ve avoided placing anything large or heavy on the glass shelf.
