The room this going in is quite low, so we needed to ensure the fan was very low profile. The configuration of the room would definitely benefit from a fan as right now it has 25+ year old contractor special fixture. This is definitely modern, the blades are clear, and very low profile. We have a "Florida basement" storage room in our modern organic coastal home that needed a light. This was perfect, nice (not cheap) quality and a little fun. When lit, the warm brown weave creates a neat little pattern across the ceiling. As some have mentioned, you will need to be directly under the fan to feel it but it does move air surprisingly well. This is perfect for us because I sometimes hang wet clothes on a drying rack or do some ironing in the center of the room.
