One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! The 12x20 pergola I ordered is close to 1000 pounds shipping in 7 boxes so the heaviest single box is about 150 lbs so two people are needed to move it around. The instructions recommended 4 people for the install. I had my brother to help but due to the weight I wanted 6 people (one at each post) to move the assembled product to minimize damage to the frame. High quality parts all around but because it’s all aluminum that is great for lower weight but it is still 1/2 ton of weight that needs to be moved around during an installation. Also I feel because we self built it I notice the little things about it more then if we would have paid someone to build it. LOVE THIS PERGOLA - We needed something that kept the sun off our outdoor kitchen in central Florida. We lifted it by about 18 inches so it would be above our door by using flower boxes and filled with concrete. It actually makes the pergola more comfortable by raising it. The gutters work well in the heavy down pours known in Florida. The higher wind tolerance was a huge selling point for us. We couldnt be happier. During the day, you can close the louvers to enjoy sun shade; In the evening you can also use the strips light while you relax in your favorite chair! If the weather changes and it starts to rain simply close the louver shut and continue to enjoy your outdoor living area with friends and family.

I found the directions to be sufficient and was able to assemble the pergola properly, in a reasonable amount of time. Allow most of a day to do it. Having two people to assist you makes the construction of the pergola much easier and safer. Particularly important as the various parts are put together and erected. This freestanding outdoor gazebo pergola is really great. It was not that hard to put together, and the directions are really good. It does need to be drilled into a concrete surface and so that needs to be taken into consideration when you choose where you want to put it. The size we chose could fit a BBQ grille or golf cart.
