The gentle touch dimmer works well. I'm glad it does not have a foot pedal because they always flicker and then stop working. This lamp is quality and I don't see it ever being damaged or scratched in any way in my house. I hope the bulbs last as they say because there is no replacing them. Lovely lamp, adds a warm cozy feel to the dinning room. Love the fact that it has multiple shades of light for personal desire. The drum of the shade is nicely large and adds a grand feel! Assembly was slightly confusing as the instructions are not very fluent and I am pretty handy. So be prepared to play LEGO with the pieces. lol but fully worth it.
