We’ve had this for a year now and absolutely love it! We built our house last summer with twin 6 month olds and a 2 year old. At the time I didn’t want to risks of another fireplace. Then came time to decorate for the holidays. I knew I needed a fireplace. So as any wife would do, I made my husband build one. We went with this and could not be happier! This fireplace insert includes many features like thermostat control functions, Oxygen Depletion Sensor with automatic shut-off, battery-assisted piezo ignition, and much more. Using Natural Gas or Liquid Propane, the Duluth Forge Vent Free Fireplace Inserts radiate 32,000 BTU of heat, enough to heat 1,500 square feet of living space.

We love the look and its heat. Installation was easy. We do find we have a burned off propane smell, but we solved this by having an air purifier next to it, makes us feel its safer that way. The propane industry may tell us all its safe to breathe those off gases, but like now known re natural gas, its better to not have those, so I would always suggest a good gas removing air purifier in the room, just my opinion..
