This is a substantial floor lamp. Real "heft" especially in the base. When you have dogs, this is a real concern if you're worried about the lamp tipping over and crashing to the floor. My only concern is the fact that the top finial that actually screws down the lamp shade into place doesn't tighten up enough for the shade to feel fully secure.
