The directions indicate that a screw driver is needed, however everything needed to assemble is included in the package. On the website it says the mattress is not included, however this is one. I bought this beautiful crib for my grandson due this summer. This is only been assembled for the bassinet style so far, but we are in love. There are a lot of pieces in the box so be prepared to sort through and figure some things out. But really isn’t that part of the fun!
