The trunk is a beautiful piece of sturdy solid wood. I purchased it because it has the black metal legs and front handle that complements my current industrial bedroom furniture. Only four stars because it arrived damaged in two places. One at the left hinge attachment to the wood trunk, the other is a split in the wood on the right side of the trunk where the leg attaches. We were able to nail the wooden block into place to attach the metal leg securely and hopefully prevent further splintering. The quality control needs to be in place for both the preparation of the furniture for shipment AND ensuring the shipper HANDLES THE FURNITURE WITH CARE DURING SHIPMENT. I am 72 years old and have never experienced an assembly process so difficult to perform. The main problem is the fasteners are very small. There are a lot of tight spacer where the fasteners go and you need very small fingers to hold the fasteners and tighten two pieces of sheet metal together. The box is very nice when complete but be prepared for a long assembly time. You actually need a second person to help with assembly because the sheet metal is very floppy. Also all the sheet metal is covered with very thin sheets of plastic wrap for protection and is very difficult to remove before and after assembly. Be prepared for some cut bleeding fingers. A couple of the reviewers had installation issues with this product so I was reluctant to order it, but I went ahead with it because it was the perfect size for our space. The bench is overall a higher quality than I expected, and we had no installation issues at all. All of the parts were there and everything fit just fine. You do need a socket wrench or some other kind of wrench to tighten everything up properly but with that, it came to together perfectly.
