Sturdy and well made, instructions were fairly clear and with a one man assembly expect an all day project, but with 2 people who are fairly handy should be a breeze. It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. The steel supports are high quality. Installation was straightforward. One person with any DIY skills can install a single awning. If I were to install the four, again, I would get assistance. Functionally, the Aquila solved a rainwater runoff problem. Since rain gutters were insufficient, the Aquila awnings serve to guide the water off the roof and beyond the windows below. The clear smoke tint provides some protection from the sun, while maintaining our view from inside. Aesthetically, the Aquila system matches the look of our contemporary-modern house. I recently had siding put on my home. My contractor sort of refused to put my old awnings back on the house - rightfully so - would have been awful! So, I started searching for suitable choices. Many were negated because they wouldn't have mounted to the siding correctly. Then I found this (and a larger one for my front door but got that one elsewhere as Wayfair didn't have that size) and realized that a mounting kit could be purchased for vinyl siding! Hooray! This is a great pergola! I love that it provides an area of shade on my back porch without blocking the sunlight coming into my house completely. I had installers handle the installation and other than some challenges with drilling it into my cement pad, it seemed to go fine. It certainly looks nice, however, there is no way to affix mosquito netting/screen to it due to the width/square shape of the rim around the top edge. Nice Pergola It’s solid but a little lower than I had envisioned. The front has a shallow gutter with ends open. I’m a trying to figure out how to hang a gutter. It’s very hard to drill. So…I was super excited to get this - and I do love the amount of shade it provides outside of our unit behind our home. Initially, we put it up against our house, but it’s not an exact fit for our back deck, so we moved it to the extended portion of our lot, where we have a couple of buildings; I like it much better out there. My husband put it together, and did say that it is labor intensive, and even more so if you jump in without reading the instructions first - so he highly recommended reading the instructions before getting started. Also; you definitely want to secure it to a building or something - it is heavy enough, but probably not so heavy that a hard windstorm might not send it packing. We have ours mounted, so no worries.
