Great looking bookcase. The wood shelves were heavy and felt substantial. As another reviewer mentioned, this is not a true black and has a distressed finish which goes well with my other dark stained furniture. I like that the back of the shelves have a lip so that books don’t slide out the back. Putting it together wasn’t too bad, I was able to it by myself without help. its beautiful and sturdy, I really needed a bigger book shelf to hold all the books I had around the house and this fit the bill perfectly. I love the arch Sao much it really elevates our whole living room. It required book ends though but I didn't mind having to find some I liked, it adds a level of elegance to the shelves too.
