Like any good wool, it's light but warm. This blanket is breathable so it holds heat without making us sweaty. The size is wonderful on our queen bed. It's soft. Because it's so comfortable, my husband doesn't wrangle the blankets leaving me with none. The satin edges are rich looking and nice on each edge since the queen blanket is a square. All I can say is WOW! First of all, this was packaged beautifully. I opened the box, and found the blanket, a care/product book, a GORGEOUS hand-woven blanket, and a dust bag. I opened the book, and inside was a hand-written note thanking me for my purchase. The blanket is absolutely beautiful, it is the perfect balance of soft and sturdy. Light weight and super soft. I use it as a warm-weather blanket primarily as a shield from air-conditioning. My family members, who operate as human hot-water bottles and tend to overheat under heavy blankets, use it in deep winter while I switch to being snuggled in fluffy down comforters. I bought several so we stop arguing over whose turn it is to use it. To avoid having to launder this (pet hair gets everywhere, and this is listed as dry-clean only), I stuff this blanket in a duvet cover before putting it on the bed. This works perfectly -- I switch out the cover every time I change the sheets, and there has been zero shedding or piling or acquisition of eue de dog (or laundering) in a full year of constant use. The blanket did have a mild sheep/natural wool scent, which IMO is a comforting and homey smell, but I only noticed it when handling the blanket bare-sans-duvet-cover and I'm slightly sad that it seems to be fading..
