Renoir Casa Sofa Leather

The painting, combining figures, still-life, and landscape in one work, depicts a group of Renoir's friends relaxing on a balcony at the Maison Fournaise restaurant along the Seine river in Chatou, France. The painter and art patron, Gustave Caillebotte, is seated in the lower right. Renoir's future wife, Aline Charigot, is in the foreground playing with a small dog, an affenpinscher; she replaced an earlier woman who sat for the painting but with whom Renoir became annoyed. On the table is fruit and wine. The diagonal of the railing serves to demarcate the two halves of the composition, one densely packed with figures, the other all but empty, save for the two figures of the proprietor's daughter Louise-Alphonsine Fournaise and her brother, Alphonse Fournaise, Jr, which are made prominent by this contrast. In this painting Renoir has captured a great deal of light. The main focus of light is coming from the large opening in the balcony, beside the large singleted man in the hat. The singlets of both men in the foreground and the table-cloth all work together to reflect this light and send it through the whole composition.

Colors are very vibrant, love this print. Anonymous. Tue Sep 30 2025

Friends of the artist happily posed at one of their favorite establishments for this festive painting composed during the height of Renoir's Impressionist career. Renoir's future wife, Aline Chariot, is in the foreground playing with a small dog. Rich with the seasonal colors of boater's straws, sweet summer wine, and wrinkled linen, this idealistic portrait is a savory moment captured in time. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. With bas-relief organic styling, the multi-tiered, replica European style 3.25" wide frame is cast in quality designer resin and highlighted with an aged gold-toned finish. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.

Renoir made a trip to Italy in 1881-82 and was deeply influenced by Renaissance art. After this trip he began to explore a new manner of painting, different from impressionism. He started to emphasize contours and modeling, abandoned the principle that scenes should be painted outdoors to capture light and atmosphere. Late in the summer of 1883, Renoir spent about a month in St. Peter Port, the capital of Guernsey, and admired the rocks, cliffs and stunning view of Moulin Huet Bay in St. Martin. He painted the starts of fifteen pictures during his stay, most of which were finished later in his Paris studio. Guernsey lies 48 km off the coast of mainland Normandy. Both share the same geology and Guernsey fulfills the "by the sea" criterion in the exhibition title. However, By the Seashore is thought to have been painted in the artist's studio. The beach depicted here is probably not in the Channel Islands but near Dieppe, on the Normandy coast. The model was Aline Charigot, his then girlfriend, whom he married in 1890. The arc of the sitter's dark eyebrows and saucily tilted nose in that pleasant, rosy-cheeked face are common to works by Renoir.

Love this print! Put it right above my dining room table. Very true to the real one and the wrapped canvas looks great.. Phyllis. New York, NY. Sun Oct 04 2020

La Casa de Les Collettes en Cagnes by Pierre-Auguste Renoir captures the sunlit charm of Renoir’s home in Cagnes-sur-Mer, surrounded by lush trees and a warm Mediterranean landscape. His soft brushstrokes and warm, earthy tones create a sense of tranquility and rustic beauty. This piece, with its serene atmosphere and connection to nature, is a perfect fit for vintage Scandinavian interiors, bringing warmth, elegance, and a touch of the French countryside into any space.

This painting is doubtless Renoir's most important work of the mid 1870's and was shown at the Impressionist exhibition in 1877. Though some of his friends appear in the picture, Renoir's main aim was to convey the vivacious and joyful atmosphere of this popular dance garden on the Butte Montmartre. The study of the moving crowd, bathed in natural and artificial light, is handled using vibrant, brightly coloured brushstrokes. The somewhat blurred impression of the scene prompted negative reactions from contemporary critics. This portrayal of popular Parisian life, with its innovative style and imposing format, a sign of Renoir's artistic ambition, is one of the masterpieces of early Impressionism.

I hung this with Renoir's Boat Party, also a classic wrapped canvas. Thay are very striking together. This is my favorite because of the beautiful blue colors and delightful, happy faces. Fine museum quality at an affordable price creates an instant party in my home. I love it.. Dr. Laurette. Thu Aug 13 2026

Influenced by a trip to the Italian countryside, Renoir painted this bright and cheerful scene of a dancing couple beneath a chestnut tree as a commission for a patron who requested works on the theme of a ball. The brilliant lead painter in the development of the French Impressionist style, Renoir's work is notable for its vibrant light and saturated color. French Impressionist Renoir gracefully captures the lustrous, pearly colors and lush, textural sub-tones in the folds of a floor-length ball gown, long white gloves, and gently arching palm fronds that outline the waltzing couple. A characteristic snapshot of real life, Renoir captures a split second when mood, movement, and time stand still.
