We spray painted metal towers and covered shelves with white wood grain contact paper to lighten up this dark set. Quite easy to put together with two people with half stands propped on ottoman. Did put together top and bottom with holes facing wrong way and had to remove and flip one bottom tower so that joining screws found holes. Very wobbly and definitely anchored to wall on either side. I like the design. For anyone that has books or dvd's it maybe hard for them to prop up alone without support. Only issues is the packers at the warehouse or manufacture packed it with scuffs in the black paint on multiple parts. I tried to hide them toward the back side. I would send it back for a replacement but Wayfair charges for shipping it back to the price of the item. The carriers beat up the package during transit for sure. Building this shelf was no joke. Granted, the instructions say 2 people to put it together but I'm one of those independent women. Took me about 2.5 hours alone. The tabs were not easy to fight with to get them in the right position but it's fantastic when it's done. It actually looks nice and not as industrial as I was expecting. I'm using it for linens and things like that so I won't be putting anything super heavy on it. The shelf surfaces are made of compressed cardboard or something like that so I wouldn't trust it with anything really heavy.
