Our new Avenco gel memory foam mattress is very good for our 9 year old son’s bed. We ordered a queen to replace his older one, which was way too firm. This new one is just firm enough, but you still sink into the foam a bit. When I lay down on it, I wake up much less sore, because the other one actually hurt my back. Ok, the biggest issue right now is the smell. We are still trying to get that to go away. The directions said to strip the bedding during the day and put a fan in the direction of the bed with a window open. It’s only been four days since we opened it up, so we are crossing our fingers that the smell subsides. Thus, the reason for the 4 stars. For comfort, it definitely deserves 5 stars.. Maureen. I’m very happy with this purchase! It’s incredibly soft and comfortable while still providing a nice level of firmness and support. I’ve been sleeping really well on it. The only minor issue is that all four corners seem slightly compressed or sunken. I initially thought they would fully expand and return to their normal shape over time, but they still seem to be that way. Aside from the corners, I’m very satisfied with everything else. It’s comfortable, supportive, and I’ve been enjoying it so far. I would definitely recommend it!. Anonymous. Fri Oct 16 2026
