This is a very heavy, good quality matelesse coverlet. I have had it over a year, washed it many times (two dogs!), and it didn't even shrink. I have the Elsa Grey Matelasse Coverlet as well as the Lodi Silver Matelasse Coverlet. I love them both, and they look great together, but the Elsa is my favorite because it’s more flexible and softer than the Lodi which is slightly more stiff. The Elsa has 2 distinct layers of fabric and feels warmer making it a better choice in winter. The one drawback to the Elsa is that the embroidered designs sometimes get snagged. I really like this quilt. It is lightweight, which is what I wanted and the color is color is beautiful. I guess it is technically a matelasse, but loosely quilted.
