This is a very heavy, good quality matelesse coverlet. I have had it over a year, washed it many times (two dogs!), and it didn't even shrink. A beautiful piece. Know that the length works IF you don't tuck in the spread under pillows. Width is not sufficient to cover both sides equally to the floor. This could be a function of our king mattress being tall, however. The width is not a problem, however, since only one side of the bed faces the entrance to the bedroom. Color: We got the gold/burgundy. Gold is the operative word, and in certain light, the color is more like a paper bag. In retrospect, we should have chosen the off-white or the brown. To get more variation in the color and to see a little of the burgundy, I flipped the spread on upside down. Now, I can see more variation in the color and a LITTLE of the burgundy. I did a "remote control" design consultation on the phone for my elderly mother who lives in another State. She had painted her walls a pale green, but had white bedding. She complained that it looked like something was missing. I knew that the real issue was that there was not enough contrast, so I asked her to trust me with the color.
