This thing is amazing! I would prefer the option to have a softer yellow tone light in addition to the bright white, but it fits my needs. Needed a light out near the chicken coop/run but too far from nearest electrical feed to run anything permanent. This fits the bill. I have it on the mode where the light stays on low but comes on bright when approached or when it signals motion from a predator. Lights up the area very well for night time feeding/cleaning activities. I will remove the water from base and replace with sand before winter. Only thing I would change would be an option for an off/motion on mode rather than just low light/bright motion. Love that we can put it anywhere we need more light.. Robert. Leroy, OH. These lanterns are beautiful! I got the bronze. They are well made with attention to detail. The instructions state to charge them for 6 hours. I received them at 3:45 pm. My apartment faces east, and the sun was already over my apartment building, no longer on my balcony or coming in any windows. I set them on the balcony receiving only daylight. At dark, they lit right up full power. So, either they were already charged, or the daylight was adequate for charging. I get only about 3 hours of sun on my balcony due to trees and the building east of mine being higher on a ridge and blocking sun at times , so they have never been charged for 6 hours straight.
