So far it's a great cutting board. Definitely have to follow the care recommendations for the initial oiling and seasoning for the first week or so. It took longer than expected to receive the countertop but it arrived in immaculate condition and looks amazing. I put on 3 thin coats of wipe-on water based satin polyurethane to protect it and sanded lightly with steel wool in between coats. The polyurethane really brought out the color without adding too much sheen - it is gorgeous. I know there were some unfavorable reviews for this countertop but I recommend it highly.. Terrell. The 4"W solid Maple flooring, by Bruce brand, in a shinny cherry finish, was a life saver for our reno. We had to match our existing flooring, and it worked. (However, once installed the finish got damaged by painter's tape, so we ended up sanding the cherry finish off.) The floors natural finish is also lovely with a matte clear seal.
