It is MDF..A step above cardboard. There are gaps in the pieces of the table where its joined together. Like when you see a leaf in the middle. But I used high end chairs and it looks amazing but I know this table, won't last long. It was easy to put together. And if you want a nice looking table for a good price just get it.
