For the price point, it is a very good buy. It is actually solid wood, albeit a low-cost, softer wood, but as mentioned, for what I wanted to spend for the area I needed it for, it is perfect. There was a very strong petroleum based smell upon opening and assembly, but that has since dissipated and is no longer an issue. I am a 58 yr old female, and I had no issues putting it together.
