The foot rest is a little awkward in the front and my son wasn’t enthused, but once we put this together and saw the foot rest could second as a table on the side due to the rotating mechanics, we were so happy. I do think if you are short and use the maximum lumbar support you may need a footrest. My husband on occasion needed a second pair of hands.
