I am giving this five stars because everything came intact. I could see once I get it up it will be exactly what I wanted. However, I was not thinking when I ordered it that my thermostat would be in the way. The reason why I do not have a picture of it fully up yet is because now I have to figure out how to bring it out at least by 2 inches so when the door slides back it will not interfere with the thermostat. I will update my review as soon as I can figure out I'm thinking about getting a 2x4 board to go across my wall and then I think I could attach everything else. I'm not saying that you have to be an engineer to assemble and hang this...but it helps. As other reviewers have mentioned, this door comes primed, not painted, and we were prepared for that. It's also hollow, but that's in the title. No worries. We were also prepared to add a 1x4 above the existing doorframe - and unless you have perfectly 16" spaced studs around your door, you're going to need to do this, too. Just attach the board to the studs, and the slider bar hardware to the board. BIG annoyances: 1) the instructions explicitly say to hang slider bar 85-11/16" above the floor, and that was a full half inch too low, so we had to remove the bar, drill holes above the ones we'd just drilled, and re-hang. 2) Whywhywhy does the slider bar come in 2 halves? A full 71" bar would still be shorter than the door, so it's just silly. What a pain. Still, with some finessing, we got the 2 pieces assembled and hung level. 3) There are NOT pre-drilled holes for the door handle. Not a huge deal if you have a 10mm drill bit, but come on. At least correct the instructions. Definitely a bigger pain to install than expected and it needed to be, but it looks good, slides easily, and feels pretty sturdy now that we're finished.. Samantha. I love these bi-fold barn doors. I wanted the look where you slide the doors but didn't have the enough wall to slide so I opted for the bi-fold doors and I'm glad I did. As soon as we opened the box, we noticed a chip in the bottom board. The box is heavy, and when deliverd I am guessing it was dropped on the ground. We were able to glue the piece back on, and we are waiting for a new piece. We wanted the door up for guests, so we installed. It took about 3 hours to assemble. Hangin the track was another 2 hours after doing all the math. I believe you will always need a ledger board to mount this door. The holes are 17.5 inches for the lag bolts, and that does not alighn with studs that are typically 16 inch on center. Overall, the dorr looks nice and functions the way it should. One note, when you watch the installation video, you will notice that when the installer puts on the door stops, he is tightening the set screw from the bottom. These doors are gorgeous. I did not order them - my husband did. Then he left for Abu Dhabi for a business trip. Then i got orders to move. Love the 36 x96 Barn door , but the track was only 6 ft long which meant the opening of the door was shy to shut comfortably with each side only having 1 in overall ! The track should have been at least 6.5 feet long !. Anonymous. Sun May 26 2024
