This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down. Nice, interesting color that adds some life to an otherwise plain white room. The headboard arrived with a small cut about half an inch long. It’s minor, but unfortunately, I notice it every time I look at it. Overall, the bed was fairly easy to assemble, provides great storage, and keeps pets from hiding underneath. I planned to use this as more of an insert (wrapping a large headboard/frame around it) because I was afraid it would look cheap but it's such a nice wood tone that I might just attach the headboard to it. I really like this bed for the price. It’s sturdier than I thought it might be and the accessible storage space it added to my bedroom is very helpful. It was fairly tedious to assemble but the instructions are good. My only reason for not giving it five stars is the assembly time, the fact that the side skirts are split into two pieces which creates a narrow but visible gap (instructions state they can be caulked), and quality of the wood paneling not being quite what I expected but ultimately not cheap looking either.. Product quality is average to below average, some of the support boards were slightly curved but useable, there was a bolt missing, had to go purchase a replacement. A .34 cent part that costed me 10 in gas to go get. The base boards that go in the under the bed storage area did’t fit, not wide enough and not strong enough to hold anything over 10lbs. The corner where the sideboards and the headboard connect have two bolts. The instructions implye that they should be at the same level, such that the corner adapter can slide in hand fasten them together .However they were not. 2) one of the groves on the metal frame could not geip the screw provided.
