Growing up, artist Helen parker loved to paint. Her favorite childhood memory is painting with her mother. This led Helen on a path to the world of art. As a young adult, she went to art school and instantly knew she wanted to make this her life’s work. Helen received her fine arts training at laguna college of art and design and is currently based in Los Angeles, California. She is taking a break from her travels and learning to live in the city and find inspiration through her current surroundings. Beautiful artwork! I am pleased with the art itself however, I am disappointed that one of the frames has a small dent in it. It’s too much trouble to box it up and return it. I was able to use a gold paint pen to disguise it and hopefully no one else will notice. It is disappointing to spend so much money on something for it not to be perfect on delivery. Although born and raised in Los Angeles, Artist Van Garret has been heavily influenced by traveling abroad to many countries, especially Iceland. Music is a big part of his life and it sparked his creativity even before he began painting. Van began painting when he was in college and he is self-taught. “Art was something that was always in my genes. It makes me happy. I believe that every artist leaves a piece of themselves in their artwork. In turn, it makes me happy when people get to own part of those pieces to share with the world.” Van prefers working in liquid acrylics and watercolors because of their fluidity. “I like how the colors flow. I was pleasantly surprised. I find it difficult to order artwork online, especially when there is a no return policy. I thought it might be too big, maybe the colors weren’t accurately represented, wouldn’t look good in the room, arrive damaged, etc. It was perfect! Floating frame enhanced the painting. Love it! Guseul Park was born and raised in Korea and studied ceramics in college; however, she was always drawn to painting and drawing and is a self-taught artist. “Art means meditation to me. Artist Fern Cassidy was born in Oakland, CA but grew up in Colorado. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, food & painting. Fern studied drawing and painting at CSU Long Beach where she learned a lot from professors that she trained under but most of her experience comes from her personal practice. She works in all mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache but also likes to experiment with textiles and fiber arts as well. An organic and instinctual painter, Artist Sarah Stockstill’s process relies on a foundation of several layers of texture that is applied and sanded back to get a smooth surface that lets her most immediate marks shine on the surface. Responding to color and forms, she follows as led. Sometimes into a deep horizon with traces of landscape, an organic jungle of pattern, a human figure, and every now and then an animal with an ethereal mystique. Sometimes the layering is broad, covering the entire canvas, and sometimes it is minute, focusing and embellishing a possible overlooked element of the painting which in turn becomes the center of interest. Most layers are created and taken away, leaving small traces whose threads become more important for doing so.

Austin Beiv grew up in the tough streets of Brooklyn, where the expression of oneself was usually done through wall tagging, or as we say in Italian, "graffito." He was influenced by many different artists, particularly Fernando Carlo, who was well known for his expressive graffiti. The influence from his childhood is where the edge and contemporary look comes from in his art pieces. After graduating from Pratt Institute in the early ’90s, he now travels all over America to look for inspiration, whether it’s a tagged wall or an art museum. He loves to embrace all the unique and expressive simplicities life offers.

Artist Jean Kenna was born in Seoul, Korea. She studied illustration at the art center college of Design where she developed her fundamental drawing and painting skills, as well as getting basic knowledge of technical programs. For Jean, art means lots of things. She thinks art is her language and a privilege given to her to express herself. It is also the way that she can communicate with the world in her own unique and personal way. Jean finds her inspiration in small things that make her excited. For example, movies, a lazy day on a beach, and the silence of a rainy day. Although she mostly works on digital media, Jean loves to draw with a pen and markers. She especially likes to draw cityscapes that involve perspective and stories of city life. During the weekends, Jean often goes outside into the city, studies people and buildings around her, and brings them to life in her sketchbook. Jean believes the purpose of an artist’s work is in bringing excitement and happiness into people’s minds. ‘I love to create art that makes your heart warm’.
