they are sturdy once you have the dirt in them, but seem a bit flimsy when empty. Be careful filling them, as I had my neighbor help me fill with his john deer and we had to go very slowly and level the dirt in layers so it didnt warp the shape. Now these are COOL! And goodness, what a brilliant assembly structure. Those little locking tabs are genius. A couple bottom screws and boom, done. They’re well built and exceptionally sturdy. I sprayed the hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and salt solution and they were good and rusty in like two hours. I like that they come with a special netting basket for dirt in the top shelf area should you decide to plant insist rather than just use pots. I’m not sure which direction to go yet. Still putting this thing together. It's a lot of assembly and you have to fold the metal parts yourself (not that difficult to do, just cumbersome). I love this product. The directions are TERRIBLE, but once I figured it out it was pretty simple. Can be put together by one person but better with two. *You will need re bar wire to help reinforce - the rocks are so heavy, that weight will make them bow out. I’ve had these for five years now and i’m obsessed. i e received dozens of compliments over the years. I sprayed immediately to get the rust color. I do wish I only sprayed a little so I could have enjoyed the grey a bit longer because it was gorgeous as a mix of color but it is what it is.
