While I am very happy with my purchase and this is such a beautiful clock, I am unhappy with the instructions. Basically, it's one line saying put one double AA battery in the unit. It fails to tell you what to do with the other battery insert. When I put the three batteries into the unit, the clock's gears worked (didn't work with only one double AA battery). It’s a beautiful clock... only issue, the hands don’t line up perfectly with the hours.. so for example when it’s 9pm, the hour hand is a bit before 9, while the minutes hand is on the 12... not sure if we can fix that somehow but it’s a bit confusing when you look at the time. We really like this clock! The only drawbacks are that the frame is plastic and the outside woodgrain is a decal and not actual wood but when you hang it up, it looks really nice. It also came with two extra set of clock face hands and another clock motor, which was really nice. I wish that it had had a center hang instead of two side hanging slots as this made it difficult to center and put up but overall we are happy with our purchase.
