The drawers are soft-close and can hold quite a bit, however the drawers are not particularly deep. The granite is beautiful and since this chest is so large there is quite a bit of granite surface area. I purchased this for my office but it would look beautiful in a bedroom as well. Holy moly that took maybe 6 hours to put together but I LOVE it!!! I’ve probably put 20 pieces of furniture from Wayfair together, and this was by far the hardest. I was nervous about the pre-drilled holes not lining up like in other reviews but mine were fine and honestly, the wood where the holes are is so thin you could easily drill your own. The only part I screwed up was step 3 with board number 5. Board 5 is smaller and the screws have unique placing so be sure to everything lines up perfectly when you get to step 5. The finish is designed to accentuate the unique grain, knots, and natural textures in the wood panels; and each piece is sanded and distressed by the hand, leading to variations in the color and texture that make every unit unique. This distressed finish is very durable and easy to touch up.
